Ohio’s New Recreational Edible Limits

Moving forward from October 5th, 2026, high dose edibles such as gummies and chocolates are banned for Ohio recreational (adult-use) shoppers. You’ll need to have a medical card to buy any edibles containing over 10 mg per dose.

This means recreational shoppers are limited to 100mg of THC per bag and 10mg of THC per piece. The daily purchase limit of 15,000mg of THC has not changed, so in theory a recreational customer could buy 150 packs of 100mg gummies per day.

There are some additional limitations. Any sort of tincture, RSO or oral oil is limited to 1,000mg of THC per package and 10mg per dose. This means RSO syringesand sublingual tinctures that contain over 1,000mg of THC will be limited to medical patients.

Capsules and pills are exempt from the high-dose edible ban. Recreational customers can buy capsules and pills containing 50mg of THC per piece with a limit of 20 pieces per bottle. For recreational customers, this works out to a limit of 1,000mg of THC per bottle of pills or capsules.

Beverages are apparently capped at 120mg per container and 10mg per serving. There is a 10% testing variance on Ohio cannabis edibles, so in theory, a 130mg can of infused beverage would still be compliant. I will have to get more information about THC limits on infused drinks and update this page with more info.

I have heard that some companies, such as UB Good, are looking into selling 2-packs of 50mg gummies for adult-use customers. These bags packs would contain the 100mg limit split amongst two pieces. However, since each piece would be 50mg, I am not sure how they would align with the 10mg per piece limit. I guess we will have to wait and see.

I’ve been told that Certified Cultivators is reformulating their 25mg 4 pack of 5 Hour Energy-style beverages. They will now be 10mg per bottle in order to comply with the new serving size limits.

Medical patients can still buy edible packs containing 200mg, 300mg, 400mg and 500mg of THC. These individual edibles are 20mg, 30mg, 40mg and 50 mg per piece, respectively.

Medical patients can also buy RSO and tinctures that contain over 1,000mg of THC per package. Basically, nothing has changed for medical patients, except for a new hope that cannabis companies will continue to produce the same amount of high-dose edibles as before.
