I’ve always been a fan of Certified’s products. Autumn from Bloom in Akron recommended their Shady Lemon hybrid flower and it was in the back of my mind for several weeks. When I finally had some extra cash to pick it up I was happy with the initial jar opening.
I was greeted with a skunky, sweet smell that immediately informed me that this was not hemp but indeed marijuana. The buds were not particularly big but they did have a nice tight trim with low stemmage. They were lighter green with a slight yellowish hue, along with some darker notes. I noticed some small orange pistils that stuck close to the bud. My tenth weighed 2.91 grams.
The flower wasn’t rock hard dense but it had some beef to it. It did pass the squeeze test but there was noticeable movement when pressure was applied. It broke up nice and stuck to my fingers a bit. It did not poof into dust through a grinder. The bud burned at medium speed and ashed mostly white with some slight darkness.
It has a skunky taste along with some lighter, citrusy notes thanks to the 19.30 mg/g limonene content. I’ve tasted flower that had much more of a pure lemony flavor, as this stuff has got quite a bit of dank taste to it, which I like. You can smell it when you open the jar. It has a significant amount of pinene which adds a nice touch.
Even though it’s a hybrid due to the limonene (typically sativa), linalool (typically indica), caryophyllene (typically indica) and pinene (typically sativa), it was more like a sativa for me. It did not make me sleepy or relaxed but rather invigorated. After consuming this flower I got the feeling like I needed to get things done around the house and prepare for the week ahead. I also used some before watching a physics lecture and it really got me in the zone and focused.
Not only would I recommend this flower for pain relief and creative inspiration, but I also think it’s a good strain to use when it’s time to get some work done. For me it wasn’t sedating but rather inspiring and energizing.
I gave the Shady Lemon an 8 out of 10 for taste, 3 for harshness, 8 for strength and 7 for smell strength. The medical effects lasted about 60 minutes.
